We are passionate, dedicated, highly trained and seasoned veterinary professionals – here to help you and your pet! We want to make sure your pet receives the best care! Due to the nature of mobile practice we see a much lower caseload than at a brick and mortar practice, and we are able to focus on your pet(s) exclusively during the visit.
We offer the following services to keep your pets healthy.
Preventative or Wellness Physical Exams are essential to Keeping Your Pet Happy and Healthy. They provide the opportunity for us to discover health issues that may otherwise go undetected until your pet is very sick such as diabetes, chronic pain and renal disease. They allow us to get to know your pet, track trends and make customized recommendations for keeping your pet happy and healthy for a long life.
Dental care is vital to the overall health of any pet. In fact, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over three years of age suffer from some form of dental disease, making it the most common pet health issue among our pet population. It is all too common that the chronic pain, infection and reduced quality of life goes unrecognized. Oral disease can be recognized or prevented with regular dental examinations and proper home care. Routine cleanings are important to discovering hidden pathology and for keeping pets healthy and happy.
Permanent identification may be one of the best gifts you can ever give your pet. We strongly believe every pet should have a registered microchip just in case they are unexpectedly lost – we want them to have every opportunity to get back to their fur-ever home.
Vaccinations against diseases are one of the cornerstones of preventative health care. Vaccines are one of the easiest ways to prevent common and debilitating infectious diseases in your pet.
Your pets vaccine schedule should be tailored to meet their specific needs based on relevant risk factors.
We provide high quality core and ancillary vaccines and follow guidelines from the American Animal Hospital Association.
Kittens and puppies are generally started at 8 weeks of age.
At Family Mobile Vet in Serving Chico, CA & Surrounding Communities, we believe that regular checkups and wellness exams are critical to your pets’ well-being. These wellness exams give us a chance to evaluate the overall health of your pet while also giving us a baseline for their unique bodies and tendencies.
Not only do these exams keep us up-to-date with your pets’ health, but they also allow us to detect potential problems before they become serious. This thorough checkup gives us vital information to help keep your pet healthy!
A proper diet is important for keeping your pet happy and healthy long term. We believe in evidence based nutritional recommendations and can talk to you about how to keep your pet healthy long term based on their particular life stage and any underlying genetic or health conditions.
Parasites can live both inside and outside of your pet, causing discomfort, illness and spreading infectious diseases. Your pet can have parasites without you ever knowing it, as often they don’t show any outward symptoms!
Prevent unnecessary discomfort, illness and infectious diseases (including zoonotic disease – which can be passed to your human family members) through proactive parasite prevention.
We help prevent fleas, ticks, heart worms, and intestinal parasites for your furry family members.
A pet that is in pain can be miserable. At FMVC we are committed to identifying and relieving acute and chronic pain. We want to enhance the quality of our pet’s life through proactive identification of pain and believe pets deserve to live as good of a pain free existence as we can provide for them. Recognizing pain in our pets isn’t always easy. Dogs and cats often mask pain at home and during physical examination. A thorough history can be helpful because recognizing changes in behavior at home can actually be very helpful in identifying pain. Pain can manifest as decreased grooming (cats), exercise intolerance, changes in litterbox habits or even aggression. We offer several pain control modalities for cats and dogs. Pets that are in pain are miserable. For this reason, we will do whatever we can to keep your pets comfortable.
Puppy and Kitten Care
Early life care is essential to a happy and healthy family pet. Puppies and kittens have immature immune systems, so need extra attention to be sure they are protected from diseases.
It is important to start them off right: from vaccinations and parasite control to socialization, diet and genetic awareness – we are here to set you on the right path for a long and healthy life with your new friend.
The age, breed and gender of your pet gives veterinarians a lot of insight! Learn about your particular pet to help navigate through common health problems.

Our pets have an immeasurable effect on our lives. The early detection of abnormalities via routine diagnostics promotes optimal longevity when we can prevent or delay illness. Some common clinical conditions of older animals include failing kidneys, abnormalities in thyroid regulation and inflammatory conditions. Trending is important when monitoring lab values. Just like tracking a patient’s weight, muscle mass and pain status, changes over time can be telling to a veterinarian. In addition, routine screening is important for monitoring chronic medications that improve the quality of their lives (such as pain control and allergy medications). Screening diagnostics are important prior to undergoing anesthesia for dental care.
